"The path of vulnerability is for the strongest and it is for the most humble...as we become more and more practiced in our vulnerability, our hearts expand and grow. Christ's instructions for being born again were clear. What he was talking about was that childlike quality of pure vulnerability. That is the strongest person, totally open to whatever comes." - Mark Sircus

  • The lack of compassion people seem to feel for one another (e.g. when people nonchalantly walk right past homeless people on the street with not so much as a second glance)
  • The growing materialism (it scares me that sometimes I'd rather watch t.v. or go shopping than take a walk or pray)
  • Groupthink (a lot of folks don't really do their own thing - even being "indie" nowadays is a trend! Sometimes trends can be helpful, though - like the "going green" trend. At least the planet is being helped, regardless of people's motives!)
  • Little to no appreciation of beauty (anymore, it's almost a crime to watch the sun set when you have work to do)
  • Unabashed narcissism (I'm guilty of this sometimes)
  • The misuse of sex (it happens as much in our hearts as it does with our bodies, and it can really hurt when it turns on you)
  • The rape of our environment (we ignore the facts so we can have our hamburgers and shoes, and the consequences have to come crashing down on us sooner or later)
  • Lack of understanding, willingness to understand, and appreciation for others (leads to racism, social discrimination, hate crimes, and other general badness)
  • Lack of respect for life, especially helpless creatures like the elderly, children, animals, etc. (treating all things with kindness and respect should be the standard)
  • Misunderstanding of love (I have a feeling it's different than we'd think)
