"The path of vulnerability is for the strongest and it is for the most humble...as we become more and more practiced in our vulnerability, our hearts expand and grow. Christ's instructions for being born again were clear. What he was talking about was that childlike quality of pure vulnerability. That is the strongest person, totally open to whatever comes." - Mark Sircus

MESSAGES
  • Bi-Rite (SF Mission). Coolest grocery ever. I just want to pitch a tent in the back and live there.
  • Santa Ramen (San Mateo)
  • Haight Street (San Francisco)
  • La Cumbre (San Mateo). BEST. BURRITO. EVER. The falafel burrito is to die for. Seriously.
  • Good Karma Vegan House (San Jose). Mashed potatoes, I want to make love to you. Also, these guys are the only ones I know who carry Colombia Gorge's Tri-Melon Aqua Frescaaaaaa. I should get like seven of them next time I go and stockpile them in my fridge.
  • Recycle Bookstore (Campbell). Adorable indie bookshop, complete with cat.
  • Little Shanghai (San Mateo). Really good Chinese food, and, by Thomas's reasoning, probably reasonably authentic since the majority of the clientele are Asian.
  • Little Shanghai (Santa Cruz). Fave: gan pon veggie cho. They're little balls of garbanzo beans, yellow onion, and carrot with a great spicy-sweet sauce.
  • Goat Hill Pizza (San Francisco). Crunchy sourdough crust, feta cheese, pesto. No more needs to be said. (But I will also say that they have really delicious spinach ravioli and their meatballs are divine.)
  • In N Out. Every time someone in California orders a cheeseburger with grilled onions and animal fries, a girl in Missouri screams in jealousy.
  • Amarin Thai (Mountain View). The yellow curry is mild and flavorful with crazy tender meats and veggies and PERFECTLY cooked rice. Yum.
  • Good Luck Dim Sum (San Francisco)
  • Twin peaks
