- First, even BREATHING costs money....and if you don't have money? Well here it begins....
- You have to piece together an existence, which may include sleeping on someone's couch, basement, living room or even on the floor just to have some place to call home
- You work hard, two, three jobs just to pay rent and be able to say Yes. I live in NY.
- If you don't have money to drive or own your own car then you have to take the trains everywhere. If you don't live close to a train station, then that means you have to walk in the heat/cold and sweat or freeze in order to get there where you will be met with filth along the way, dog shit, garbage and garbage juice puddles, people who don't like to share the sidewalk and other annoyances. And what do you get in return? The chance to say you fucking live here. At least in Cali u are rewarded with excellent weather and beaches....
- Once you get on the train, you will be met with crowds and stinky, smelly fucking disgusting people and piss smells along with people trying to sell things, get you to give them money, people who have speeches and pity stories. All this while trying to get to your shitty job.
- Sleep...what's that? Sleep? You can't sleep! You have to WORK! And when you get off of WORK you have to go "home" to your couch or floor and try to fall asleep to the sound of your roommate's radio, TV, voice, friends, or even your stupid fucking neighbors.
- Now let's talk about your free time, if you are so fortunate to have any. You save all your pennies just to enjoy a night on the town but you and millions of others are trying to do the same thing so you tell yourself you'll be smart and take a taxi....only, it's Friday/Saturday night and you can't get one. Not only that, there's traffic so you're better off taking the train anyway. Then when you finally get to your destination, you have to wait in line or wait for a table or wait for your friend(s) who's LATE and didn't bother to call you ahead of time..friends...that's another topic
- Try to make a friend out here. A real one. A "friend" can mean a business contact, an acquaintance, a fuck buddy, someone you go have drinks with, or someone you don't even know the last name of. The term is used so loosely that it you try to make yourself feel better by having MORE of them, only to try to link up with them on a weekend or during happy hour and you're met with an excuse, such as..."Oh I have to work", "I'm out of town", "I'm busy", "I have to (fill-in-the-blank) tonight"...OR they wont even bother to pick up your call or answer your text until two or three days later when they finally remember you!
- The dating scene. I'm going to be real here. Most guys only want to be heard, fucked, and left alone to complete their work projects, album, or whatever-the-fuck they're working on. That's it.
- The idea of a city getaway means going to Jones Beach or the Hamptons where it's too cold to swim or the weather sux...damm the beaches here just plain suck.
- No one can speak English....
- The attitudes...
- The sense of entitlement with everything from sidewalk space to a tip!!!
- The stupidity
- Everything takes so much effort, from planning where to eat for dinner to trying to make dates with acquaintances.
- Always being "on" and feeling like you have to be doing something 24-7...never time to sit back and smell the mothafuckin roses
- Having to use fucking craigslist to find a job and an apartment...and meeting a whole bunch of shitheads along the way
- Feeling completely and utterly alone with no emotional or financial escape whatsoever.
- Becoming a meanie and a cynic and forming a hard shell of a personality because you have to in order to find a space for yourself
- All the nasty, disgusting people who just procreate and procreate
- All the stagnant mentalities, esp. in the black community
- The terrorist attack that could happen at any time
- http://www.theonion.com/articles/84-million-new-yorkers-suddenly-realize-new-york-c,18003/
- I've fucking had enough. When I leave here I'm never coming back to this shithole.
