- seeing glimpses of the divine in the mundane (a warm bowl of soup, dappled sunlight through the foliage of trees, a black cat's fur turning brown under the sun, etc.)
- sisyphean time loops
- devotion so intense it consumes you
- performing necromancy to bring back someone you love from the dead
- coming back from the dead wrong
- love as consumption of the other
- the catharsis of knowing something bad’s about to happen but also knowing that you can’t do anything about it
- optimistic nihilism (life ultimately has no meaning. however, that simply means it is up to us to create our own meaning of life)
- soulmates as a conscious choice rather than fate (i didn't fall in love with you. i walked into love with you, with my eyes wide open, choosing to take every step along the way...)
- computers/machines (the power of having such an advanced brain combined with the vulnerability of having your innards and controls on display and accessible to the trusted people who are allowed to work with you. the pathos of being so large and complex but unable to move)
- reinventing yourself as a violent act (how much can you change and get away with it, before you turn into someone else, before it's some kind of murder?)
- faux apathy from someone with enough repressed emotions to form a singularity
- proof of presence via absence
