relationships:

• WEIRD family stuff. emotionally unavailable parents?? i had the idea tht one of them (mom?) went missing inexplicably and was never found. cody talks about his family carefully, usually in some kind of anecdote-joke sandwich.
• tht being said likely raised in the backwoods? ie the town it surrounds. grew up locally, works locally, and just as weird as all the other locals. probably some odd connection to the town, its monsters, or something
• forms a friendship with guy harland over a relatively short period of time
  • theyre sort of opposites attract rules, cody pushes guy to do new things, guy keeps cody grounded.
