This recipe is from “Lithuanian Customs & Other Ethnic Cookery” published by the Knights of Lithuania Anthracite Council 144 Copyright looks like 1966-1979 but I can’t read it clearly! In the book it’s called “Holiday Cordial (Krupnikas)” and does not appear in the index of recipes, but is in the Christmas Recipes.2 bottles whiskey1 qt red wine1 pt rum2 c nuts3 lb sugar1 c cherry syrup1 lemon7-8 cloves1/2 whole nutmeg1 stick cinnamon peel of an orange1 stick vanilla3-4 whole allspice1 1/2 qt distilled water Boil water, spices, nuts, rind of lemon and orange, and sugar until 1/2 the quantity. Add cherry, boil 15 minutes. Add wine, rum, and whiskey; bring to a boil. Strain into bottles and cool. Notes from Sharon: Be prepared for a sloppy, sticky mess to clean up! Do NOT used ground spices - they will not dissolve and will leave a nasty film. This recipe fills 4-5 tall bottles ... small wine bottle size or decorative vinegar bottle size.
