- The large population of black squirrels
- The beautiful scenery that the locals take for granted
- The lines on the roads are always faded
- The accents up here are a diluted form of Canadian
- Everyone knows everyone and if they don't they gossip about what they do know
- It's cold
- The inches of snow that accumulates during the Winter season outnumbers the people
- The raccoons are HUGE!
- Every town has their own symbol for Summer tourists to just eat up (example: Leland is the tug boat)
- "Fudgie" is not a nice term for people
- Some post offices, secretary of state offices, and other government run places actually close for lunch up there
- "Love your neighbor, buy local" is very important advice to live by to them
