When I moved from the boonies of Leelanau County in northern Michigan to the biggest and busiest county in southern Michigan, I had a lot of getting used to ahead of me. Here's what I have accomplished:

  • Learning to deal with more aggressive traffic
  • Coping with the larger amount of agressive & angry people
  • Somehow managing to make friends with my new neighbors
  • Getting used to not having to know everyone by name to fit in

Here's what I still need to work on:

  • Learning all the crazy roads that stop at one point and start again somewhere else miles away
  • Finding a nice place
  • Keeping up with the fast pace of the city
  • Staying in style with the other city girls
  • Coping with stuck-up/shallow rich people
  • Finding a good restaurant that isn't from a chain
  • Making a good, good friend
  • Making it rich! Because you can only do that in the city!

Here's what I won't miss:

  • Being a half-an-hour drive away from everything
  • Every establishment closing at 8pm if not earlier
  • Six feet of snow by the beginning of November
  • Six feet of snow period
  • The everyone knows everbody atmosphere

Here's what I'll never be able to get used to:

  • Only being able to see a handful of stars at night
  • Feeling so alone in a big city
