  • somewhere beyond the sea (400 pages)

(started:)1-2, (finished:) 1-31. rating 5/5! thoughts: so fucking full of love and life and beauty i am teeming with fondness for all of these characters!!! i almost love these kids as if they were my own. magical beings make the world what it is and i will not hear otherwise because there is no fucking otherwise. iris could learn a thing or two from these wise ones. i am full of love for all who are different and unafraid to be themselves in the face of diversity.

  • hell bent (478 pages)

(started:) 2-1, (finished:) 3-31. rating 5/5! thoughts: this sequel has only solidified my idea that the ninth house world is a fucking classic. i am constantly entranced by bardugo's writing and softened by these characters. darlington, gentleman demon of lethe, how i adore you and your way of thinking and how your presence is always looming. dawes, incredibly loyal and full of ideas and the perfect counterpart to alex. and alex, galaxy, wheelwalker, how fucking complicated and amazing you are. absolutely one of the best morally ambiguous yet loyal and loving characters of all time. this writing makes me feel like i know these fictional characters and i have shed countless tears over these two books. will never stop thinking about this.

  • the ballad of songbirds and snakes (517 pages)

(started:) 4-2, (finished:) 5-5. rating 4/5! thoughts: oh coryo i am devastated by you and lucy gray i will never forget you and your impact on the evil world of panem. thinking back to when i first read/watched the og hunger games and constantly realizing how fucked snow is, then fast forward to now when there were glimpses of him possibly having empathy but throwing it all away when it came to power. he could have been GOOD!!!!!!!! fuck u dr gaul!!!! and fuck u crassis for inadvertently causing your son to be a raging psychopath. RAAAAHHHH thg you will always own my heart.

  • earthlings (252 pages)

(started:) 5-10, (finished:) 5-17. rating: 4/5! thoughts: so, SO weird but so intriguing? it was literally all i could think about for the days i was reading it. it's written in such an enveloping way, and society is deduced to a completely unsettling, dystopian idea that you feel yourself becoming empathetic for these delusional (mentally ill?) individuals that are slowly descending into alien madness. wtf. need more info on this stat!

  • little fires everywhere (336 pages)

(started:) 5-18, (finished:) 6-2. rating 4/5! thoughts: could not stop thinking about this one. such complex characters, so many moral grey areas. i can't help but dislike elena as she is a very selfish mother but i can see how she ended up this way. yet she didn't bother to take the steps to right herself, just continued on not only judging her kids, especially izzy through her own lens of what was "right" and "wrong", but also everyone else in shaker that didn't live up to her made up standards. mia and pearl, however, I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

  • crying in H mart (239 pages)

(started:) 6-4, (finished:) 6-25. rating: 5/5! thoughts: oh so devastatingly beautiful. i knew michelle zauner was a complete and utter start but this just solidifies it. her and i love our moms just about the same -- a whole fuck ton. i so enjoyed learning about korean culture such as foods and phrases. it was so dreamy/unbelievable at times that i forgot all these things happened to a real life person. i absolutely loved this.

  • the weight of the stars (375 pages)

(started:) 7-1, (finished:) 7-29. rating: 3/5! thoughts: i cannot say i cared all that deeply about any of the characters..... the premise was interesting but i'm not sure of the execution. like it's space! it's exploration! i felt like i should've been more excited to get through this but alas i was not :/

  • beautiful world where are you (353 pages)

(started:) 8-5, (finished:) 9-28. rating 3/5! thoughts: tbh unlikable characters. SO mundane in a way that it wasn't always charming in the way i like stuff like this to be. i might just be craving some fantasy or something but damn i did not enjoy this like i hoped i would.

  • if we were villains (354 pages)

(started:) 9-29, (finished:) CURRENTLY READING!
