- dark souls: artorias of the abyss (2012): artorias of the abyss takes place approximately 200 to 300 years before the events of dark souls, in the land of oolacile. it features three of the four knights of gwyn.
- dark souls III (2016): the fire is fading. darkness creeps across the land. the lords of cinder charged with watching over the first flame have abandoned their thrones and are slowly losing their sanity. you are the champion of ash, an undead chosen to seek out the lords of cinder to return them to their thrones. enter lothric, an eerily beautiful land filled with dangers around every corner.
- silent hill 2 (2001): james sunderland receives a letter from his late wife telling him to meet her in their "special place" in silent hill. upon arrival, he finds himself sinking deeper and deeper into the unknown, and toward a despair from which he may never return.
- pathologic 2 (2019): takes place over the course of twelve days in the remote town-on-gorkhon on the steppe. when an outbreak of a unique strain of plague grips the town, it is up to the haruspex - a surgeon born and raised in the town - to discover the cause of the plague and deal with it.
- the cat lady (2012): follows susan ashworth, a middle-aged cat-loving woman suffering from depression, and mitzi hunt, a young woman bent on avenging her lover's suicide.
- elden ring (2022): the tarnished is one of many exiles called back to the lands between in hopes of repairing the elden ring and becoming the next elden lord.
- bloodborne (2015): follows the player's character, a hunter, through the decrepit gothic, victorian-era–inspired city of yharnam, whose inhabitants are afflicted with a blood-borne disease. attempting to find the source of the plague, the player's character unravels the city's mysteries while fighting beasts and cosmic beings.
- amnesia: the dark descent (2010): follows the story of the amnesiac daniel as he explores castle brennenburg in the year 1839, in a desperate attempt to avoid the cosmic force that is trying to destroy him, slay the master of the castle, and discover who he is.
- yakuza 0 (2015): the main plot is triggered by the murder of a man in the empty lot. because kiryu had recently collected a debt from this man, keiji shibusawa, daisaku kuze, and hiroki awano blame him for the murder. however, kiryu learns that the man had died from a gunshot wound, and not from the simple beating that kiryu had given him. this motivates kiryu to attempt to prove his innocence, rather than simply taking the blame and spending time in prison, as was demanded by his superiors.
- yakuza 2 (2006): focuses on the former yakuza kazuma kiryu who receives a request for help from his former group, the tojo clan yakuza of eastern japan, to stabilize relationships with the omi alliance group of western japan.
- the elder scrolls IV: oblivion. (2006): the player is in the imperial prison when the emperor and his bodyguards need to go through his cell to escape from the imperial city. the emperors sons are assassinated. the player goes to kvatch where he finds the last heir of the septim bloodline. the emperor has been killed while escaping from the city. the player must help the heir martin septim to save the world from the oblivion crisis. and joining the blades, save kvatch from oblivion, save bruma, and be the champion of cyrodiil.
- resident evil code:veronica (2000): it has been three months since the total destruction of raccoon city, and claire redfield is still searching for her missing brother, chris. claire's search takes her to an umbrella-owned facility in paris where she is discovered and met with fierce resistance. claire attempts an impressive escape from the clutches of the hired soldiers, but it proves to be just not enough.
- metal gear solid (1998): a crack government anti-terrorist squad takes over an obscure alaskan nuclear disposal facility with the aid of an army of genetically-modified 'genome soldiers'. they have threatened to launch a nuclear missile if the us government does not hand over the preserved body of 'big boss', the greatest soldier that ever lived. the only person who can successfully infiltrate the facility, rescue the two hostages and thwart the terrorists' plans is the legendary solid snake - you.
- metal gear solid IV: guns of the patriots (2008): in the near future, the nations of the world rely upon private military companies to fight their battles for them. when renegade super-soldier liquid ocelot emerges as the head of a potent coalition of mercenary powers, an aging solid snake returns to save the world one last time.
