WOOGYU

Summary: Soulmate au. Woohyun dug Infinite's grave with his own hands years ago and yet Sunggyu is still there, even if Woohyun can't really figure out why. Life doesn't end, even after your career does.

Comment: Unfathomably good. A simple concept and a short story but written with so much care and attention to detail. Dismantles all of the things I don't like about other soulmate stories and uses those tropes in a clever and realistic way to make the struggles of the characters all the more raw. One of the cutest, most genuine romances ever; I was genuinely so invested and worried for their ending.

Summary: Modern au. Sunggyu joins a support group to cope with the death of his dog, and meets a fickle man he has a past with.

Comment: I can't even put into words the emotions I went through while reading this. I can't spoil much. It's just amazing. The plot twist is great fun, and the dialogue, as usual, is layered and snappy.

Summary: Canon au. It all starts with Sunggyu asking Woohyun to write him a song, and devolves from there as fifteen long years are slowly unravelled.

Comment: Genuinely pure genius. So much focus on character work, impeccable pacing, and a very real reflection on two/three people and the complex history they have with each other. The author has such a great grasp on how to write a compelling, character-driven story.

Summary: Dystopian au. In a world drained of emotions, Sunggyu is the only one that doesn't make any sense to Woohyun.

Comment: Also known as myeongdong on livejournal. Jumping up and down I wish this was longer! I enjoyed the concept here thoroughly, and I love the way Woohyun's feelings for Sunggyu were always there, really.

Summary: Lucid dreams au. Sunggyu learns how to lucid dream and, in the midst of meeting someone who cannot wake up, reality becomes an afterthought when in the dreamscape you can build skyscrapers out of memories and love out of dreams.

Comment: The prose set the tone so perfectly. Very flowery and imaginative, as if in a dream... While I was reading I kept imagining this as an anime movie, especially something directed by Makoto Shinkai. Someone needs to make that happen.

Summary: Witch shop au. Woohyun has a bone to pick with Sunggyu, the witch shop clerk who he's pretty sure sold him a scam. If only his smile wasn't so cute.

Comment: Kicking my feet and giggling this was the cutest thing ever. The whole magical trinkets store was such an adorable part of the story.

YADONG

HOGYU

Summary: Modern au. Hoya re-tells the story of how he and Sunggyu came together and broke apart one summer.

Comment: I read this in a sleep-deprived haze and the emotional impact of the story hit me harder than possibly anything that has come before it.

Summary: Canon au. Hoya recalls the way he and Sunggyu had collided and everything around them shattered.

Comment: I'm obsessed... the metaphors, the stylistic choices. The incredibly subtle character moments.
