• 7th, put coffee chaff on 3 garden plots that are done, one inch deep only
• 8th, daffodils are up, short leaves and one bloom
• 11th, a flock of robins, just like a week or so ago, my favourite birds
• 13th, put lots of coffee grounds on the compost pile, it's hot!
• 20th, turned the pile, daffodils blooming
• 22nd, big flock of birds chattering, turned the pile, pruned roses
• 23rd, sunny, warmer, narcissus very green with some buds forming

cut potatoes in half, dipped in ashes

• 24th, build mini-greenhouse (frame & plastic sheet) for two beds

temperature 20 degrees warmer inside at 4 pm, moist, soil warmer to 3 inches temperature the same at 8 pm, soil warmer

• 25th, raked 10 wheelbarrows of leaves, shredded into one scant trash can full with lawnmower, much colder today
• 27th, sowed potatoes in bed #2, spread fertilizer on beds #1 & #2, watered both
