- 1. San Francisco: I love this place so much. The weather is beautiful no matter what time of the year it is. It’s in a beautiful part of the U.S., near the Big Sur region and the giant Redwood trees. The buildings are fantastic, the food is fantastic, Chinatown and North Beach are fantastic. People love running in California, this place is perfect for me! Plus they even have a major league baseball team… I’m in heaven. CAFFE ROMA!
- 2. Chicago: I felt that I really must stay loyal to The City. I love my White Sox, the skyline, the museums, the lakefront, Navy Pier, the bean, the Taste, the artwork, the architecture, the SEARS tower… I’ve had so many great memories at the UCTC track meets and they are definitely one of my favorite things about summer!
- 3. Louisville: My newest home! Louisville is a bit smaller than Chicago which makes it more easily navigated. The architecture is simply stunning! I love going for runs around the campus and the city. Bardstown Road is really great with some delicious restaurants. I can’t wait to cheer for my U of L basketball and baseball boys! And the Bats! Love them.
- 4. Pacific Grove, CA: I know this is not a big city but it’s basically like mini San Francisco. Downtown is extremely cute and it’s right on the beach! A beautiful little beach town perfect for nature lovers and outdoorsy types. Not far from San Francisco, Monterey Bay, and Big Sur as well!
- 5. San Diego: Another beautiful California town. I didn’t spend a whole lot of time here, but it has a really great feel to it. Beautiful beaches and beautiful architecture. Old San Diego is a very cool place to go and the Hotel Coronado is spectacular!
- 6. Cleveland: Cleveland totally gets a bad rep! I’ll admit I have called it the “Mistake by the Lake” but I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. There’s a really cool art scene and the lake is actually very nice. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is very cool and the outdoor market is my absolute favorite. So many delicious foods in one place=heaven! Plus actually going to a Cleveland Indians game actually made me hate them less than I used to. Yes, this means Grady is no longer on my top five most hated baseball players! He seems like a nice enough guy.
- 7. Memphis: The epitome of DIRTY SOUTH! No, I would probably not want to live here, but it really is an Interesting place to visit. The style down here is just crazy, so many hot rappers come from M-town! Beale Street is probably one of the coolest places I’ve been… and it will be even better once I turn 21! Memphis Redbirds for the win.
- 8. Ft. Myers Beach: Beautiful beach town! The swimming is great and the beach is stunning. I also love going farther into the mainland to see the flora of Florida because it is so different from where I’m from.
- 9. Pittsburgh: Another city that gets a bad rep. I love the architecture and the rivers are really not bad at all. Some good shopping, great restaurants, awesome Andy Warhol museum! PNC Park is by far one of the prettiest stadiums I’ve been to, and those damn Pirates are just so lovable even if they suck!
- 10. Las Vegas: You need to go here at least one point in your lifetime! It’s actually fairly kid friendly (just a lot of advertisements for strip clubs etc) and I enjoyed my visit. I’d love to go back when I can actually gamble because I can only imagine how much more fun it would be. There are also some really great natural parks outside the Las Vegas area that are stunning.
- Honorable Mention- Cooperstown: I know, I know. Baseball City, USA didn’t make my top ten?!! It’s a great place to visit and in a beautiful area of New York but it is greatly Yankees/Red Sox/Cubs-centric. I’m aware that those are the teams that sell the most, but still it wouldn’t hurt to have more stuff for the other 27 teams. I love that every store is baseball related though and CHEAP BASEBALL CARDS!
- Honorable Mention 2- Knoxville: Simply for the Smokey Mountains because they are spectacular.
- Other notable places I have been: Los Angeles, Nashville, Lexington, Washington, D.C., Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Sanibel, Benton Harbor, St. Joseph.
