- the fact that every band says Portland is their favorite city
- the Crystal Ballroom
- the great music festival that is Musicfest Northwest
- the Zine scene (even though I'm not in it)
- the camaraderie of the citizens
- the 'neighborhood improvement' projects (ie large mural in the intersection)
- the trumpet player downtown that I feel is my friend, I see him so much
- the Keller
- the Schnitz
- the Portland Art Museum
- the sadness of Chinatown
- the street known as Hawthorne
- the street known as NW 23rd
- the Portland State Uni bookstore
- the streetcar
- the bridges
- the homeless people
- the desire to restore old buildings rather than tear them down and build new ones
