one of my favorite things to do on a sunday is searching for potential books to read. i've discovered that i'm getting quite picky. these are a few of my criterias:

• dark characters. i'm pretty much fed up with your every fantasy setting where there's something good fighting something evil. the world is not black and white, people!
• an interesting magic system. originality. something i haven't read before. not just... it's magic, you know, man? not really...
• exstensive world-building. this is very very important. needs to be something i haven't read before. i am so fucking tired of your average middle age setting like a song of ice and fire. i want something exotic and new. avatar-ish even.

i just read the first line of a book called Dusk by Tim Lebbon. that line sort of decided that this is a book i will definitely have to read.

how fucking awesome is that?! my goood. love it.

i'm very tired of picking up a book that is the first of a series or trilogy and not getting sucked into the world like i want to. that i don't want to read anything else in that series. i want to read something that'll blow my mind away. god... is it too much to ask?
