• He must be Christian
• and have a sense of humour and the ability to laugh at himself and at the world
• He must take delight in life
• Mutual attraction (physical, emotional, intellectual, etc), respect, and love
• Equal preparedness for both of us to be in a relationship
• We must both feel comfortable studying the Bible together, and be able to commit to a schedule
• He has to pass the ten book test: either reading a minimum of ten books or comparable works of literature in a year, or have well exceeded this minimum at some point in the not too distant past. Reading that is required of him doesn't count (although exceptions may be made for, say, English majors or anyone who has devoted himself to reading for a living, so to speak)
• We must have similar goals for the relationship and compatible goals and plans for the near and foreseeable future

If we establish that marriage is on the table he must:

• be capable of being a spiritual head of a household
• be willing to adopt and eat a fair amount of vegetarian food
• be willing to live in Canada (or just not demand that we live in the States)
