Aubrey is from the Old French Auberi, a form of Alberich. Alberich is derived from the Old German alb meaning "elf" and rih meaning "ruler, king". The most common spelling is Aubrey which I like for both a boy and a girl, but overall I think I prefer Aubrie for a girl at this moment.

Aubrie is a sweet, sunshine-y name. It is summer, soft fabrics with bright patterns, tulips, bubbles, cupcakes, and the smell of soap.
