  • The Walk-In (ITVX, 8/10) (added July 2023)
    • Based on a true story; discusses neo-naziism in the UK.
  • Inside Man (BBC, 9/10)
    • Really interesting but convoluted plot with quite a lot of frustrating parts/plotholes. I quite enjoyed it but it received VERY mixed reviews, and all of them have legitimacy.
  • Thirteen (BBC, 8/10)
  • Bodies (BBC, 9/10)
    • Not exactly crime, but it might appeal to some who also appreciate hospital-based shows. Despite the harrowing stories and horrendous behaviour depicted, I was gripped by this show.
  • Kiri (BBC, 8/10)

True Crime

  • Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer (Amazon Prime, 10/10)
    • Really enjoyed this series - probably the most interesting look at Ted Bundy's crimes I have come across, through the eyes of people who were pivotal in his life, most notably his long term girlfriend and her daughter. Highly recommend this one.

  • Happy Valley (BBC, 9/10)
    • This was so nearly a ten. Watched all three seasons in two days and absolutely loved it.

  • Shaun Attwood
    • I listen more to his podcast (many episodes/clips from which you'll find on his YouTube, but he's worth subscribing to. (UPDATED 2023: Attwood's channel/content feels like it's veering towards conspiratorial/gossipy these days, and I have been engaging with it a lot less.)

Podcasts

  • Voices for Justice (Sarah Turney)
    • I have been OBSESSED with this story. Sarah's podcast is so thorough and well put together, and follows the story of her sister Alyssa's unsolved disappearance. Absolutely captivating.
  • Cold (KSL Podcasts | Wondery)
    • Another captivating story, and well organised podcast series. The podcast kind of assumes you know about some of the big events that take place as part of this case (many true crime fans will possibly have come across the story before, as I had), so it might be worth watching a more concise presentation of the Susan Powell case beforehand. I'd recommend That Chapter's video, but there are lots out there. Even knowing the overall story and where it stands today, the podcast goes into so much detail, and is moving, shocking, and heartbreaking in equal measure.
  • Millionaire Murder (The News Junkie)
    • This comes to a really unexpected ending but I didn’t hate it
  • Criminal (Radiotopia)
  • This is Actually Happening (Wondery)
    • Not strictly crime but some of the episodes relate to crimes. Really interesting podcast where each episode is a crazy real-life story told by the person who experienced it.
  • Twisted Podcast (John W Taylor)
  • Graphic Detail (Graphic Detail | True Crime)
  • Shaun Attwood's True Crime Podcast
    • Similar to his YouTube channel above - he has a really interesting mix of guests on his show to tell their stories, some I appreciated slightly less than others (I think David Icke has made a few appearances....), but lots of really amazing stories to be heard._
  • True Crime Garage
    • This podcast goes into a lot of detail in all kinds of cases. The unnecessary and sometimes inappropriate interjections by the co-host sometimes bug me, but crime-wise it's worth a listen.
