- Behind every respectable person are firm, but reasonable parents who did their job well, or horrid, neglectful parents who did not. People who led easy lives as children, but without proper guidance, turn out to be less agreeable or intelligent compared to the former. People who led terrible lives as children, but did not learn from and rise above their experiences, are pretty much the same.
- Trying to purposefully make friends rarely works out long-term. It's much better to just go about your business and meet people organically.
