- I first started reading Harry Potter in 1998, sophomore year of high school
- The first book I read on my own was Sweet Valley Kids #11 - Crybaby Lois. My mum bought it for me to discourage me from being such a crybaby and I had been hooked on books ever since.
- I used to highlight certain words and color in the illustrations of my children's books. I didn't really know what highlighters were for back then! I would just use them for words I didn't know or for grammatical changes I thought were better. Haha.
- My favorite baby sitter from The Baby Sitter's Club was Dawn Schaefer. I think I liked her handwriting and I had a thing for blondes. I would imagine blondes to be sooo pretty.
- Books that made me cry: The Diary of Anne Frank, The House of The Spirits, A Walk to Remember, Angela's Ashes
- Books that were given as gifts (that I can remember):
- ✔ 1984 by George Orwell - Mark
- ✔ Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman - Isaiah
- Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman - Manong
- Guards, Guards by Terry Pratchett - Martin
- Brandenburg Concerto by Julian Rathbone - Yam
- ✔ Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul - Mum
- ✔ Dangerous Angels by Francesca Lia Block - Mum
- The Complete Hitchiker's Guide to Galaxy by Douglas Adams - Mum
- ✔ On The Road by Jack Kerouac - Isaiah
- I have a thing for books written in letter or correspondence form
- Book obsessions (in chronological order):
- Sweet Valley series
- Sweet Dreams series
- Love Stories series
- skanky novels by Judith McNaught, Jude Deveraux, etc.
- The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
- The Harry Potter series
- The Lives of the Mayfair Witches Trilogy by Anne Rice
- Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt
- The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
- books by Francesca Lia Block
- angsty, coming-of-age, young adult novels
- fairy tale retellings like Ella Enchanted, etc.
- His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman
- Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
- The Red Tent by Anita Diamant
- I used to obsessively take care of my books and even wrap them in plastic until I learned that books should look "well-loved"
- I used to be a member of BF Book Club where I could earn some extra money by renting out my books to others. Pretty cool idea, actually. Too bad it closed down. I hope someone comes up with something similar soon.
- The first fictional character I super, duper liked was Mona Mayfair from the Mayfair books by Anne Rice. I even wanted to change my surname to Mayfair!
- The second fictional character I super, duper liked was Ron Weasley! Awww. Won-won. :)
- The first fictional character I fell in love with was Ian Thornton from a skanky novel by Judith McNaught
- Books I bought during my travels:
- Mad Dogs & Co. by Chart Korbjitti - Thailand
- Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro - Singapore
- Rice by Su Tong - Hong Kong
- Book series I followed, chronologically
- Sweet Valley - duh!
- Baby Sitter's Little Sister
- Adventures with Barbie
- Baby Sitter's Club
- Ramona series (favorite: Beezus & Ramona!)
- Sweet Dreams
- Love Stories
- Friends 4 Ever
- Animorphs
- Harry Potter
- His Dark Materials
- Georgia Nicholson
- I prefer Jessica Wakefield over Elizabeth. Elizabeth is just toooo perfect! And I dislike perfect characters. At least Jessica has her flightiness and superficiality as a character flaw. What's Elizabeth's? Being responsible? *rolls eyes*
- The last book I read that I LOVED (but did not obsess over) was The House of the Spirits (read in April/May 2008)
- I write my name and the date I bought the book on the very first page. Though I am at times lazy and forget to do so.
