- HURT/COMFORT -
Every night, Hua Cheng remembers the moment and circumstances of his second birth even though he wishes nothing more but to forget it. Every night, he breaks.
And just like any other night, Xie Lian is there to help him pick up the pieces.
“Ge ge,” Hua Cheng whispered, "it’s not real, I promise. You’re safe."
Xie Lian didn’t react. He stared blankly at the stone table, trapped in time. Hua Cheng could hear him muttering something under his breath.
“Help me, help me, please!”
--- Hua Cheng and Xie Lian, accompanied by Xie Lian's two ex-attendants, stumble upon a powerful curse that materializes illusions of a person's worst memory.
Hua Cheng and Xie Lian once again encounter the most painful moment of their long lives- but this time, they face it together.
Xie Lian is trapped in a never-ending labyrinth. Starvation should've killed him a hundred times over. Unfortunately, he's a god, and he can't die.
Hot tears overspill and flow onto the place Xie Lian is bandaging. The brunet holds Hua Cheng’s forearm with both of his hands, clutching tightly. His shoulders are shaking as he weeps lowly, and all Hua Cheng can do is watch him helplessly.
It's a dreary rainy day in the ghost realm. Warm and safe in Paradise Manor Xie Lian has some thoughts. Reassurance and love. Devotion and adoration.
Xie Lian has spent centuries waking up from nightmares on his own. He doesn’t have to anymore.
- MODERN SETTING -
They don’t hang out. They’re not friends. The only time they talk is nights like these when Hua Cheng has no one else to turn to. Nights he takes a sledgehammer to rock bottom.
Or: Hua Cheng leaves his shitty family behind, and goes to the only place he knows he's safe.
- SOULMATE -
Xie Lian's soulmate died a long time ago, he grieved and mourned, cried and screamend. Its really too unfortunate how he falls in love with someone still waiting for their soulmate to come back.
