Favorite sounds and why.

  • The ticking of a watch/clock. It keeps me grounded, reminding me that time never waits, no matter what happens. It also reminds me that every second, every minute, everything is significant.
  • Dave Grohl’s voice. I can’t tell you the number of times Foo Fighters has helped me out of a really bad night.
  • An acoustic guitar or a piano. There’s just a softness about both of them that I absolutely adore hearing.
  • The sounds of a good song. It makes me feel connected with the intangible.
  • The singular sounds of a book’s pages turning. I love how the sound of something so small can put me at ease, and help me to remember that all that matters is the book in front of me.
  • Rain. Something about the pattern and beat on my window is wonderful to hear. It’s so calming and I usually have my best dreams when rain is occurring outside.
  • The sounds of a live concert. The music just moves through you, getting straight to your heart and pulling at the strings of it. I think the ability to make a connection and change the way someone feels is such a beautiful aspect of music. Also the feeling of the bass running through while you’re down in the pit… so lovely.
  • Camera shutters. I think it’s because it’s connected with the feeling that you captured a moment and it can’t be taken away from you.
  • Deep guy voices. The soft rumble takes longer to comprehend so you really have to be listening to what they’re saying to get it. And every conversation should be like that, an exchange of ideas that are heard by the other person.
  • Boots pounding pavement. There’s something satisfying about the way each step makes an impact on whatever surface you’re touching.
  • The sounds of my friends voices. They're comforting.
  • A new musical artist that I like. I can listen to them over and over.
  • People yelling/cursing at video games. The creativity of their statements and the utter ridiculousness just amuses me.
  • The keys clicking on the keyboard. Again, comfortable
  • Wind blowing through wind-chimes. There's something musical about it that I love.
  • Those delicious deep boy voices. It makes me want to talk to them more, definitely.
  • Skateboards on cement. For no apparent reason.
