The only real requisite to Geminism is the belief that one is a dividual, wherein one contains two souls with a gemellic relationship. One can align oneself with and aspire to the values of Geminism without being a true Geminist; this way of living is called Semigeminism, and its followers Semigeminists.

It is also worth noting that Geminism is deeply intertwined with Ren's schizotypal personality disorder, or STPD, which involves "thought disorder, paranoia, a characteristic form of social anxiety, derealization, transient psychosis, and unconventional beliefs." You do not need to be schizotypal to be a Geminist, but Geminism as a system of belief is founded on schizotypal experiences and thought patterns.
