i'd be curious to know how well magazines are doing these days. this is a list of things i would include if i had my own magazine.
- a year of goals
- introduce a new years resolution list in the first issue of the year and then follow-up each month
- goals would include organizational things for home, health improvement (no dieting), relationship building, and learning (crochet, woodworking, etc.)
- could have a contest to have subscribers submit their own resolutions in november/december
- give proceeds of the magazine to charities
- have subscribers choose their own charity
- in each issue do an article on one of the charities recognizing what the funds have done for them
- ideas for how to reuse each issue
- during the holidays have each page turn into an ornament, bow, or wrapping paper
- a menu of recipes
- create a menu for a week including easy and celebratory meals (good mixture)
- provide a shopping list for each issue
- fashion for the season
- no focus on celebrities or fashion you can't find in a regular mall
- layout sets (look book) for the season rather than making unfashionable folks pair their own
- include one outfit that reuses clothes from a past issue
