"Most of us consider good deeds as selfless & altruistic. However, I would propose that all good deeds towards others have a kind of built in personal satisfaction value, giving each of us a kind of better sense of self-worth. Perhaps the best of a selfless good deed is found in random acts of kindness, when no one but you knows you gave without any sense or need of reciprocation. I love the concept of 'paying it forward.' On occasion, I have been handing out twenty dollar bills to strangers ... just 'cause. The 'just cause' is because I know almost everyone in this country is wealthier than most any other nation: even our poor has access to Welfare & Social Services. We, in our home, are not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, but what I have requested of each of the recipients of this $20 bucks, is to give half of it to someone else."
