• collect colourful leaves
  • Identify the leaves and glue them into a notebook. Name them and research about the trees they come from.
  • Collect chestnuts and make animals from them.
  • Have a conkerfight.
  • Find a huge pile of (clean!) leaves and jump right into it. Make sure to tidy up the mess afterwards too.
  • Make a mug of hot tea, light a lantern and watch the flame flicker.
  • Make a paper lantern and take it out for a walk.
  • Carve a pumpkin and make (Carribbean) pumpkin soup.
  • When the storm is howling outside, build a ship from your bed, lots of cushions and blankets and pretend to be a pirate in the middle of a thunderstorm.
  • Turn off the lights, lie in the dark and listen to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.
  • On a windy day stand in an open space and resist the force of the wind.
  • Get a few friends together and tell each other ghost stories.
  • Make a shadow theatre.
  • Decorate the flat/house in red and yellow.
  • Cook an autumn soup.
  • Send everyone you like a Halloween postcard.
  • Copy Dreadful Shadows on your MP3 player and take it out for a midnight walk (I highly recommend the Funeral Procession). Get lost in the beautiful dark voice and try not to think about anything at all.
  • go to your local library and find childrens books about autumn.
