fuck it. be creative even if you never really *make* anything. write out plot synopses of stories and then move on. design OCs you’ll never use. make mood boards and concept art and don’t do anything with them. life’s too short to forget everything that inspired you and creation doesn’t have to be “complete” to be worth the time you put into it.
(...) it’s possible to have high standards and fall short of them but still make the attempt without being afraid of failure—because it’s really not the worst thing, to make something that isn’t quite what you wanted. the only failure of creation is to make nothing at all, and as long as i make something i am succeeding. (...) if you can make writing something you enjoy, you’ll find yourself looking forward to writing, and then you’ll become a good writer. but the first step is to forgive yourself for creating something flawed.
