• a few dozen goldfish. various causes of death including bigger fish, scale diseases, and toilets.
  • nutley: white/brown absynnian guinea pig. she died of a heat stroke during our garage sale one summer. she is buried in a garden in the backyard.
  • beaver: black smooth-haired guinea pig. he was blind. when he died we didn't notice for 2 days. buried in the garden with nutley, but not too close because we were afraid we were going to dig up nutley who had been dead and buried for half a year.
  • kermit and toady: two frogs. caught one night at the pond near my aunt's house in ohio, along with about 15 other frogs. the next day, the other 15 frogs were eaten by my thai aunt and relatives.
  • petey: parakeet. he was a mean little guy. i always wondered why he was such a biter, then one day i came home to find my mother poking at him in his cage with a chopstick. mystery solved.
  • mi-chan: wheat-colored tabby cat. she liked to bite people's calves and took to using every surface in the house except for her litter box, as a litter box. because of these lovely habits, my parents took her to the "pound" one day and didn't tell us. i later found out that the pound meant the woods near my house.
  • ozzie: cairn terrier. we always thought he would slow down but he never did. i love my little mutant. he is twice the size of normal cairns... sometimes he chews rocks.
