WHY IS JACK IN SO MUCH TROUBLE ALREADY?

• He listened to a few people and made some bad bets
• He lost quite a bit of money
• He took a loan from his boss and got fired
• He sold a few lemons (automobile speak) to some sketchy people who had insisted upon the sale that they were leaving for North Carolina (maybe California) which made him think they'd never bother coming back for him
• The lemons were used as getaway cars in a robbery
• The lemons broke down upon getaway
• One of the robbers is arrested.
• The robbers are stuck in town.
• The robbers decide to take revenge on Jack.
• The robbers charge Jack not only for the money he lost but also for the money they claim would have been acquired in the robbery as well as bail for one of the robbers who got caught by the police.
• The rent is totally due Friday.
