- my mum picking me up at the publishing house, so i could show her around, spending a really nice evening with her, and then randomly meeting Meike late at night on my way home
- a star-speckled night sky over the countryside near Bochum after the wedding of old friends
- reading about Vienna and all the deliciousness in its cafés and bistros in my Lonely-Planet-travel guide, which was worth absolutely every penny

- finally seeing the bookshop "Hartliebs Bücher" for real & buying Wolfgang Herrndorfs 'Arbeit und Struktur', which the booksellers greatly approved of me buying, and the first Harry Potter in English
- drinking wine in a beautiful vineyard just outside of Vienna, with a glass of wine and some traditional Austrian sandwiches (pumpkinseed spread and Liptauer cheese spread), watching the twilight, the view over Grinzing and Vienna and the tiny bats flying over our heads, occasionally stealing some grapes straight from the vine
