Get beside me
I want you to love me
I'm surprised that you've never been told before
That you're lovely and you're perfect
And that somebody wants you

  • What about you is heroic?
    • Well, I don't exactly go around in a cape trying to rescue people from robbers or murderers or anything, and I wouldn't consider myself brave. I mean, courage is facing your fears, and the only think I'm afraid of is the dark, which is totally irrational. I know it's totally irrational, but I still refuse to face it, so I think I'm actually a coward. I might be willing to jump out of an airplane or speak in front of an audience or hold a giant spider or even all of those things at once, but that's not bravery because those things don't frighten me. It's not heroic that I stay home and take care of my mom, either, even though some people say it is. I don't get that. She's my mom, you know? I can't just abandon her. I guess I do have this tendency to think that I can save people from themselves, and if it's the thought that counts, then I guess that's heroic. If it's the actual results, though, I guess I'm basically worthless in the hero department.
  • What about you is social? What do you like about people?
    • I love people. I love the way they surprise you with their goodness and humanity when you're about to give up hope, throw in the towel, and decide there is no more intelligent life on this planet outside of yourself. I think that happens to me more than to other people, because I'm pretty harsh and I tend to stereotype. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate people because of their race or gender or anything, but every time I meet someone in the bar who isn't a rude, slobbering drunken idiot, I am totally shocked. Also, I don't pity people who are homeless or addicted to things just because they had a bad childhood. Okay, maybe children can't help what their parents do, and if they're suffering, I pity them, but once you're an adult, you're responsible for yourself. It's not like I wouldn't help someone who was struggling; I just don't pity them, and I have no respect for anyone who doesn't even try to improve their situation. That said, I really do love people. I talk to strangers all the time. I'm pretty good at making small talk and I'm excellent at comforting--there are benefits to having an emotionally unstable parent, after all. For the most part, though, I'd rather do something with someone than sit around and talk about our feelings. That's another thing. I don't really like to talk about my feelings, unless I'm really, really comfortable with someone. It makes me feel pathetic, like I'm asking for sympathy or something. I don't want that, so I just don't do it. I guess that's why some people think I'm a little standoffish.
  • What is your real, birth name? What name do you use?
    • Katherine Ashley Browning II. I'm named after my mom, and since we live together, that gets kind of confusing. She goes by Katherine, so most people call me Kate.
  • Do you have a nickname? What is it, and where did you get it?
    • My mom calls me Katie. It's alright if she does it, but I sort of hate anyone else who tries to. I've had to stop dating men before because they wouldn't stop. It just grates on my nerves. My dad used to call me Kit-Kat, and that was fine at the time, but I'm not really fond of that anymore, either. I would (secretly) love a future lover to call me Katherine instead of Kate. It feels so much more grown-up. I probably wouldn't ever ask them to, though.
  • What do you look like? (Include height, weight, hair, eyes, skin, apparent age, and distinguishing features)
    • Let's see--I am approximately five and a half feet tall, just under average weight, about 120 pounds, which is healthy. My hair is dark brown, long-ish, straight-ish, with blunt bangs that end just above my (also dark brown) eyebrows. My eyes are hazel. They look brown most of the time, but sometimes you can see green in them. Also, sometimes I wear colored contacts instead of clear ones, but not often. My skin has finally cleared up all the way. I had a bad bout of acne right after puberty, and I took a prescription for it up until my twentieth birthday. I think I look about my age--maybe a little older or younger, depending on what I wear. I don't have any scars, and my only piercings are in my earlobes, but I do have a freckle on the inside of my right hipbone that all of my past boyfriends have been pretty fond of.
  • How do you dress most of the time?
  • How do you "dress up?"
    • Lately, I've only really dressed up for job interviews and presentations, but I dress up a little for the occasional date, too.
  • How do you "dress down?"
    • On the weekends, and in my spare time, I lounge around the house in comfy old clothes.
  • What do you wear when you go to sleep?
  • Do you wear any jewelry?
    • I have a pair of diamond studs that my father gave my mom, and sometimes I wear a cheap necklace, but otherwise no.
  • In your opinion, what is your best feature?
    • Um. Some people say I have nice legs, but I hate them. That's why I wear pants most of the time. I guess I'll just be stereotypical and say that I like my eyes, which aren't really that big, but my cheekbones make them look big. I also really like the way I look with blunt bangs. They make me feel like a schoolgirl.
