- i will have a flat.
- a little flat.
- with crates for furniture.
- and great lounging pillows.
- and a huge grand piano that takes up most of the room.
- and a cot under the piano.
- so when i sleep i'll be boxed in and safe
- i'll wear saris every day.
- in red, and orange, and gold.
- always in silk.
- but they will be warm in winter and cool in summer.
- and everyone will think that i look like an exotic flower.
- and fall in love with me.
- even though i am not exotic.
- all my friends will be writers.
- and they will come over every night.
- and we will read poetry.
- and they will understand mine, without having to be told.
- and they will love it.
- and me.
- and we will drink wine every thursday.
- cheap wine.
- with expensive bread.
- and fruit and cheese.
- and we will sit in my flat.
- on pillows and crates.
- and talk and talk and talk.
- with only candles for light.
- and their wax will drip onto the crates.
- and the piano.
- and it will be beautiful and poetic.
- not messy.
- and i will never have to clean it up.
- and i will have a neighbor.
- a beautiful neighbor.
- with eyes that laugh all the time.
- and a smile that goes up higher on one side than the other.
- and we will argue.
- all the time.
- until it's almost time for bed, when we will kiss.
- and kiss and kiss and kiss.
- and we will know that we love each other.
- and we will never have to say it.
- and we will kiss.
- and kiss and kiss and kiss.
- i won't want to be anywhere.
- except where i already am.
- because i will be loved.
- and cuddled.
- and appreciated.
- and understood.
