Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 tablespoons cold water
Filling:
- 1 heaping teaspoonful of jam, any flavor
Icing:
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted
- Milk or heavy cream (I used milk)
Directions:
- You make the dough, sprinkle flour on the table, and roll it out. Then you cut out rectangles and try to make them the same size, which is easier said than done. You plop a teaspoon of jam on one rectangle, then pick up the other and put it on top, crimping the edges in any way possible (I used my hands and a fork, but jam still leaked out). You also poke the top with a fork to vent it.
- Then it goes on the sprayed baking sheet, and you repeat over and over until all of the dough is gone. :D Then, you cook it in the oven at 400F (204C) until the edges are slightly browned. (The original recipe says 450F, but that was just a little too much for my oven.)
- While you're letting those cool, you make the frosting. A lot of confectioner's sugar and a little milk/cream. You want it to be pretty thick. I used a butter knife to spread it on the poptarts, and then sprinkled them immediately after because it dries rather quickly.
