(so very much in progress)

Or at least my favorites. To save myself a little effort I'm limiting myself to one book per author - an asterisk after the title basically means it would be a long list of that author's works but that title is pretty much my favorite. Multiple-author anthologies are of course open season.

Generally when something is popular I avoid it like the plague, and this seems to go double for movies. The more people rave about it, the more top ten lists it ends up on and awards it receives, the less I want to see it. This can apply to movies in general and the science fiction & fantasy films beloved by my fellow geeks. Some are more popular than critically acclaimed and some are movies I might like to see one day. This isn't a brag list - more of an, "I'm tired of being expected to have seen these."

These are in no particular order and I'm too lazy to italicize them all. Well, they were in no particular order and then I noticed some patterns. Checkmarks are for movies I've watched since creating this list.

(still very much in process) Despite being a pretty well-read person there are many of the "classics" that I've never read. The ones that are on the bestseller lists don't even give me pause, but even when it comes to the people I share similar tastes with, from when I was pretty young I pretty much refused to read what everyone else was reading. Like the movies list this isn't meant as a brag list, and with books I certainly find myself feeling more often like I really should be reading these.
