• Be open-minded.
  • When you see something wrong, fix it.
  • Golden rule. Treat others the way one would want to be treated.
  • Love, support, and protect each other.
  • Don't spend what you don't have, unless it's urgent or if it's something big, but try to save/invest instead of borrowing.
  • Say "I love you" only when you mean it. I love you little brats even if I'm still an 18-year old boy writing this right now.
  • No boy or girl is cute or hot enough for you to stop taking school seriously.
  • Always ask for help and help someone in need.
  • If you have any problem, whether you're crying over a boy or girl of if you're stressed about work, I'm always right here if you need to talk.
  • No matter how taller you guys will be compared to me and no matter how you guys will disappoint me like all kids disobey their parents, you will always be my precious little babies.
  • Take you driving tests seriously. I didn't and you don't want to be a loser like me.
  • Don't flaunt your money. Humility is the foundation of all virtues.
  • Save for the future. I'm doing it right now, so I'm expecting you guys do it for yourselves and/or your kids too.
  • Exercise and stretch so you don't end up as a short like me. :)
  • Love your grandparents.
  • Curfews are there for a reason. My parents aren't that strict when it comes to that, but they also gave me limits.
  • No hard drugs. Please.
  • If you're throwing a party at our house, clean up afterwards. No hard drugs there either.
  • Tell us if someone is bullying you.
  • Stand up for yourself and for others.
  • There's a difference between genuine humility and giving the illusion of humility to be noticed by others.
  • Use protection. AIDS/STDs are a real thing.
  • Let's try to eat our meals together as a family, with no one looking at phones and just discussing how we're all doing at school, work, in life.
  • You have chores for a reason.
  • I'm apologizing to you guys in advance if you happen to inherit how much of a crybaby or procrastinator I am.
  • Look after each other. Don't be embarrassed by each other if you guys all end up in the same school.
  • Don't ever fight over money.
  • Visit your ancestral homes in Europe if you can.
  • Obey the law.
  • Shovel the snow for our/your neighbours. Bake an extra pie/batch of cupcakes for them if you can.
  • We will have the talk, and the awkwardness is better than being unprepared.
  • Help me in the kitchen, even if it's just cutting, stirring, peeling, or even just watching. I have a lot of recipes to pass on to you guys, so I want you guys to be in the kitchen a lot.
  • Visit me when I'm sick and old and tired.
  • Visit your grandparents when they're sick and old and tired.
  • Don't put me and your other dad in an elderly home. That's the least you could give us for raising and loving you.
  • Save for the future.
  • It's okay to make mistakes.
  • Try to use honey in place of sugar. And I know we're Québécois, but too much maple syrup can kill you.
  • When writing a test, don't take too much time on one question. Skip and return later. Read every question, every information, and every possible choice; you might see a clue that will help you answer another question.
  • Make friends and acquaintances. Know the difference between the two.
  • Not all your friends are going to remain until the end, and that's okay.
  • When you are lying to my face, it is you who will feel the guilt, not me.
  • Insults and negativity are like gifts. If you don't accept them, they will remain in the possession of the person giving the gift.
  • Love your cousins too. I don't know who your dad's nephews/nieces are/will be (yet), but chances are my brother's kids will be among your first friends.
  • Speaking of family, I cut off my contact with a lot of distant relatives. If you want to look and find them, you're free to do so, but there's a reason why I did so.
  • When the teachers say no phones in class, no cellphones.
  • If you think I won't go out of my way just to talk to your teachers about what/how are you doing in your classes, you are hella wrong.
  • Get lots of sleep.
  • I'll try to teach you guys French, Spanish, Ukrainian, Bosnian, Catalan, Basque, and Tatar (if I become fluent in all lol).
