December

  • A Christmas Story: speaking of which . . . •••••
  • Elf: never gets old. is this my generation's A Christmas Story? •••••
  • Holiday: awe yeah, Hepburn and Grant, my new OTP. not as great as TPS, but still good. •••
  • The Philadelphia Story: what? how is it possible that I didn't see this until I was an old lady? SO GOOD. •••••
  • Return to Me: watched for nostalgia's sake. still sweet. I feel like I should roll my eyes at it but I can't help liking it. ••••
  • On Strike for Christmas: I am going to forget that I ever watched this now, okay? •
  • Chaos Theory: objectively this movie is pretty bleh, predictable and trite. I liked it, though. not to the point that I'd rewatch it, but it was a decent way to keep myself entertained while doing chores. Ryan Reynolds is easy to watch, what can I say. I liked the father/daughter dynamic, too. •••

November

  • Camelot: aw, yeah. still the best -- blame it on nostalgia. and every time Lancelot sings his "I'M SO GREAT" song, I'm reminded of Gaston from Disney's Beauty and the Beast and I lol forever. •••••

October

  • The Seventh Victim: the Satan-worshiping thing is more hilarious than frightening, but I loved this movie. caught it starting when Birdie woke up at three in the morning and stayed up til the end because I was enjoying it so much. nice atmosphere. ••••
  • Dead at 17: caught the last half, easy enough to catch up since there are about two hundred Lifetime movies/Law and Order eps with roughly the same plot. I'm always waiting for the laundry-huffing scenes. •
  • Accused at 17: omg, this was horrible, I loved it. the villain is so over-the-top villainous that she should be made of ham, the parents are so ridiculous, the cops are so sitcom-y, it is just the worst. I'd totally watch it again. ••••
  • The Engagement Ring: caught this on Hallmark while doing laundry. I thought it was horrible and cliched but I watched the whole thing, so I guess it got its way. but DUDES, IT'S "IMPETUOUS," NOT "IMPESTUOUS." and what's so horrible about liking a nice teevee? weirdos. •
  • The Wedding Dress: Hallmark movie all the way: a wedding dress connects five couples together, spider-web style. oddly, it was a little hard to follow while doing laundry. would have found it more believable (haha) if the dress weren't so ugly. ••

September

  • How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days: Hudson and McConaughey are likeable enough to make this hideously cliched (probably the point, but still) mess of predictability . . . well, not great, but not the worst thing I've ever watched. I think I actually laughed once, too. ••

August

  • The Last Wave: parts of it were hard to follow and most of the characters seemed like sketches, but I liked it well enough. the last half hour bothered me (the way it was meant to). •••
  • Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: hahahaaaaaaa what. I love Indiana Jones too much to give this one less than three stars but wtf was that? •••

June/July

  • Overnight Delivery: didn't even have to be in the room consistently to figure out the plot. on the plus side, I didn't mind having to leave before it was over. •
  • Forget Paris: the "banter" seemed canned, and the movie as a whole seemed dated. the basketball scenes were okay. still like Joe Mantegna, still dislike Billy Crystal. •o
  • Easy A: LOVE. loved it like I love "Heathers," and it has just as many quotable bits. it's in heavy rotation on Starz so I'm sure I'll watch it a few more times. •••••
  • See This Movie: whyyyy did I watch this? I need to keep some DVDs nearby for early Sunday morning feedings, the teevee selection is crap. I liked the idea, it had potential, but the actual movie didn't grab me at all. gave it an extra star because I laughed once. ••
  • Sherlock Holmes: PRETTY. fancied this characterization of Holmes/Watson so much that I pulled out the only Holmes collection I have to reread with Downey and Law's interpretations in mind. I think I might actually prefer the movie to the "classic" stuff, heresy! ••••o
  • The Male Animal: predictable but enjoyable enough, with actors who are fun to watch. I know the free-speech/academic plot is mentioned first in most reviews, but in my sleepy state I mostly followed the romantic bits. •••
  • The Rack: caught most of this war/courtroom drama on AMC during an early-morning newborn wakeup. interesting enough to keep me watching and mostly awake despite the lack of "action," and I enjoyed the actors, but one viewing was enough. (to be fair, I did miss a fair bit of the beginning and managed to fall asleep right before the end, so I ended up wiki-ing the verdict.) ••o
  • Inception: so many pretty people, interesting plot, nice effects. •••••
  • I Love You, Man: dumb but funny enough to stay on the teevee while I fed a bottomless pit of a newborn, and I did lol a few times. •••
