December

  • Much Ado About Nothing (2013): this was so much fun. the play itself is funny and TERRIBLE (Leonato is a tool and a half) and I really enjoyed playing whack-a-mole with actors I recognized from Joss Whedon's projects. I liked the setting a lot. •••••
  • White Christmas: one of my fave xmas movies. AMC is playing it over and over and over this year, and it's hard not to get sucked in. ••••

October

  • World War Z: really liked it -- the awesome woman from The Killing played Brad Pitt's wife! -- but had to Wikipedia the entire plot in order to watch it without stressing out. ••••
  • The Devil-Doll
  • Mark of the Vampire
  • Freaks
  • Star Trek: Into Darkness: I will follow you anywhere, new-classic Trek. •••••

July

  • Gaslight: SO GOOD. •••••
  • Oz the Great and Powerful: Good God, that was terrible. I liked some of the callbacks and I do love the world of Oz but I am pretty sure Oz himself was stoned throughout most of the movie and that green makeup (CGI?) was AWFUL. I'm not even going to address the the movie's treatment of women, smarter people than I have done that, I'm sure. Still, Rabbit loves it and was so excited for us to watch it together, so it gets a few points for that. ••
  • Monsters University: I thought it was really cute, but then I'm an easy mark for Pixar films. We saw it in 3D, WITH ALL 3 KIDS, and I still had a blast. •••••

March through June (Fell off the wagon! Will have to add them as I remember them.)

  • Harry Potter 1 and Harry Potter 2: Really enjoyed these, despite writing them off for years. We watched them on two different movie nights. •••••
  • Seeking a Friend for the End of the World: Saw the last half hour or so. Sweet but I don't think I'll watch the rest.
  • Lincoln: Just as excellent as the hype made me believe it would be. •••••

February

  • Top Gun 3D: The 3D was horribly misaligned so we ignored it. AND YET, I STILL BEQUEATH UPON IT •••••.

January

  • She Made Them Do It: Hm. I didn't realize that the actress who played Sarah Pender is married to Channing Tatum. I was wondering if they were related. Oh, the movie? It was okay. •o
  • Blue-Eyed Butcher: Does Sara Paxton even have blue eyes? Somehow I've watched this movie twice. I like all of the lead actors, but I really get into hating the husband while I'm watching it, so I guess Lifetime's doing its job! ••o
  • The Pastor's Wife: Daniel Jackson as a jerk! And I had something here about preferring Charmed-era McGowan but then I read she was in an accident and felt like a jerk. Still wasn't a very good movie, though. •
  • Kit Kittredge: An American Girl: ADORABLE. •••o
