the kindness soul doesn't remember much of their past, due to repressed memories before the age of 7. they used to have parents, a home, but lost it all due to an accident. they were taken to an orphanage, where they stayed and made some friends. those of which wouldn't harass or bother them. one being the most important, the SOUL the monsters referred to as "Justice." in this orphanage, the staff weren't very attentive. usually, mia would be the one to sneak into the kitchen to prepare atleast some food for the other children. they weren't very good at it, they were only a child and could only make the simplest of plates just by watching the staff cook. their fingers would get burned a lot, but as they got better, that didn't happen as much.

in their free time, mia would read books. but they were never normal books, they were mostly books about the monsters who lived in the underground. though most would describe the monsters as ruthless and beastly, the kindness soul couldn't believe it themselves. they wanted to meet them. help them. prove it could only be a myth. but they didn't know how. they knew about mt. ebott, and they wanted to escape and go. after a while, they became pretty excited to talk about mt. ebott and the monsters, and their plan to escape the orphanage. but they never had a chance to leave.

one day, there was an altercation with other kids of the orphanage. mia was threatened and bruised, but the justice soul intervened. the orphanage burned down to the ground, but mia escaped just in time, wearing an apron and taking the nearest object from the kitchen on the way out: their burnt pan. it was almost instinct to do so.

they were scared, startled, they were the first one outside but they didn't know what to do. so they began running. at that moment, their brain couldn't think about their friend, who had just saved them, but about the horrible accident that had just happened. there was only one place they thought of going to. and so they went to mt. ebott, as fast as their legs could take them, took a deep breath, and jumped down.
