one instance where I saw propaganda was when I was young, growing up in the American school system we were taught a more watered-down US history lesson on how America came; two topics in particular that come to mind are the topic of slavery and Christopher Columbus and his discovery of America. I believe when I was young, we were still calling the native Americans "Indians" which is just wrong.
I was in a way star-struck as a kid and felt as though America was the best place to live, the American dream.
