• one caveat, i detest our cultural slavishness to fame and popularity...and i'm in a mood.
  • another caveat, pop culture often burns me up.
  • i'd be equally happy never to hear about jessica simpson's relationship status or the name of jack white's baby's name ever again.
  • while jessica simpson and jack white are not the equal musically, the details of the vagaries of their personal lives are equally banal.
  • there appear to be no more hermit or recluse artists and musicians - i miss enjoying the work w/o the insistence of personality - often personality over product.
  • i wish lucky magazine had never been invented.
  • ditto for elle, vogue, spin, rolling stone, and every other magazine dedicated to trend making and following.
  • oprah did not invent costco or reading. (i know lisa loves her, and she does good work world wide, but god damn, she can certainly blow her own horn). you want a good book recommendation, my fellow americans, why not ask your local librarian or teacher?
  • despite all my ranting, i am a hippocrate(sp?) and love to watch america's next top model. perhaps this is because it's totally engrossing to watch nineteen yr-olds scramble aboard the fame train while spouting memorable quips like "I've always wanted to be a model since I was a little girl. It's my dream." or "My biggest fantasy is walking into the African consulate and having them recognize me- that's the girl from top model."
  • maybe i'm just a hater and a jealous so and so.
