I'm really into the Shoushimin Series right now (2024年8月25日). It only has 10 episodes, which makes me a little sad because I’ve gotten so attached and wish there was more ( ;∀;) The story follows two characters trying to live ordinary lives while dealing with small mysteries and incidents. The cinemascope aspect gives it a unique, movie-like feel, and the art and pacing are really well done. Also, the cakes look amazing. Everything just works really well together.
Really looking forward to reading the light novel series the anime is based on.
update (2024年9月15日): Turns out, Shoushimin Season 2 is officially happening! Set to premiere in April 2025, and I’m super excited for it!!!
update (2025年5月4日): Recently discovered that there’s a fan translation of the Shoushimin Series light novels available online! Here’s the link: https://pigcow-translations.com/petit-bourgeois/ ✨ I’m really happy because now I can finally read more about Kobato and Osanai beyond the anime. Looking forward to all the extra details and quiet moments in the novels. Feels like a nice gift for fans of this underrated series (。T ω T。)♡
update (2025年5月18日): Case of the Autumn-Exclusive Kuri Kinton just ended, and I’m so happy that Kobato and Osanai are finally back together again. I was hooked the whole way through, but episode 17 especially had me yelling and wanting to bite into something—anything. This arc kept me on edge in the best way. Really looking forward to what’s next: Case of the Winter-Exclusive Chocolate Bonbons. Can’t wait to see where their story goes from here!
Sometimes I wonder how a series can be this perfect (at least to me). The story, the characters, the art—every little detail feels just right. Even the opening and ending songs are such a perfect match. From “Sweet Memory” by Eve and “Itokenai” by ammo in Season 1, to “Kaseijin” by Yorushika and “Sugariddle” by Yanaginagi in Season 2… everything fits my taste so well, it’s actually kinda wild (> v <)
