- Purchase herb plants and soilless potting mix from local nursery (preferably chives, basil, parsley, lavender, mint or thyme).
- Get a container 6-12 inches deep and 1-2 feet wide, enough for multiple plants.
- Place a 2-3 inch layer of potting soil in bottom of container.
- Position herb plants in container.
- Place the rest of the potting soil around the plants, leaving about an inch around the top to allow for watering.
- Water sparingly, fertilize once a month.
- Place on a windowsill facing south or southeast.
