- Stuyvestant Square on the east side of 2nd ave.
- Brave, lofty mice crossing Broadway in the dark
- Privileged treatment from the employees at Haveli (and the politics that inevitably follow, i.e. Morgan Neiman)
- Something about the movement from the first to the second year of college and its relatively positive effects on everyone
- Returning to the Cinema Studies department to have found nothing changed; finding some sad objective joy in all the cinema kids' attempts to circumvent their insecurity through the dry accumulation of knowledge
- Literary Interpretations, poetry reading, finding myself more than competent in the face of assorted English majors; a rather questionable Zach Holbrook
- Freshmen galore at Hayden, thereby greatly reducing the risk of unwanted chance encounters with post-first year NYU students
- Pearl River Mart; the Chinese alternative to IKEA
- Listening to Tom Waits' "Rain Dogs," approaching Union Square
- Congruently animalistic behavior in the Washington Square dog run; dog on dog and human on human socialization (lots of butt sniffing)
- Squirrels, pigeons, mice, dogs and men mingling in the square
- Young, fun, note-worthy teachers: Paula, Doug Dibbern, Daniel Fleming, Joshua Schwartz, Zach Holbrook and the Turkish Slammer
- Stumbling on an unbelievable bevy of viable Indian food restaurants on Curry Row between 1st & 2nd on 7th street when I'd previously thought it was in Midtown
- Also, on this same street, having stumbled across an enormous Shahrukh Khan poster plastered in a store window, and wandering inside to discover the most comprehensive Indian video store I could have ever imagined: I'm chalking it up to divine providence
- Grand Theft Auto, and its wildly popular introduction to the Cunt Castle
- In pursuit of the Iranian math tutor
