i get so annoyed when people think that because my art is good, then i probably have good drawing equipment, ie a drawing tablet with a pen. my relative even insists i get a drawing tablet because it’s better

i’ll ask you, why do my skills reflect the equipment that i have? i’m from a working class family, the very last thing i need is better equipment especially when i can already do my job with what i have. it’s ignorant and an insult to assume that an artist makes good art BECAUSE their equipment is good. i was never given anything more than paper and pencil and a phone growing up because that is all that we could afford, yet i still managed to become skilled enough because i spent time to improve on that skill. so i hate privileged motherfuckers who find it so crazy that i draw with a phone and my finger. let me tell you, it’s not that fucking hard. don’t go complaining to me if your 2000 dollar ipad doesn’t magically enhance your ability to draw good because there IS NO shortcuts to becoming good. i’m no child prodigy nor do i come from a good background, i became skilled at this because i’ve been working on it all my life, so what have you been doing all your life? if you seriously think that skill is based on equipment then we might aswell switch equipments cause you’re dense as fuck
