before anything, remember that her life is far from a happy fairy tale.

minkyung grew up under the shelter of reckless parents, who happened to be good at breaking each other's hearts. since the age of eight, their so-called home was decorated by interactions in the form of shouting and beating, resulting in her fear and reluctance of coming home.

at the age of fifteen, on another disturbing day, late of night, minkyung begged her parents to put an end to their misery. for her alcoholic father, her plead sounded like an insult. he was too drunk to know his limits, therefore his intention to teach his daughter a lesson ended in a fiery fight with the mother. at the dawn, when he finally started to regain his consciousness, the sight of his dying wife and daughter suddenly hit him—it wasn't right, it wasn't supposed to happen, he didn't mean it. or so he said.

during the crucial state of his family, he stayed at the police office, getting a lot of questions and threats thrown at him. the testimonies of the neighbors didn't do him any good, and not long after that, they decided to imprison him for the safety of his family and neighborhood.

days after that, as minkyung started to get better, her mother fell into a coma. her condition got worsen to the point that they couldn't do much about it. a day after, she went through another crucial state, and apparently she couldn't go through it alive, leaving minkyung with a hole filled with grief and loss inside her.

ever since then, minkyung lived alone in her home, filling her days with working as a part-timer in three different places and studying. the day she graduated from high school was the day where she felt relieved in years. with only a suitcase, she moved to seoul with a mindset of doing her best to study so she could be a great lawyer, defending those who are in need.
