I've just been rating everything at like a 6/7, even though I feel like half the stuff I rate that high should be a lot lower, so I'm gonna write out a little thing for me to follow to better rate things.

I rate purely on enjoyment. Characters & art style/animation usually have some sort of factor in my enjoyment. Specifically characters. I feel like I can enjoy most things if there is at least one character I look forward to seeing on screen.

If I rate things really poorly or really highly it doesn't have a bearing on the actual quality of the show. I give things with probably pretty shit quality high ratings because I enjoyed the anime regardless of its technical flaws and limitations.

  • My absolute favourite shows/movies. Not a single unlikeable part. Most importantly, it has a high rewatch value. I don't typically rewatch anime or movies I've seen already so a 10/10 would need to be something I'd happily watch again and again. Had some sort of meaningful impact on me.

  • Enjoyed every second of it. The main thing that differentiates 9 from 10 is that I likely wouldn't rewatch something with a 9 rating.

  • Almost completely enjoyable. There were a few minimal scenes or moments that weren't great and difficult to get through but they are heavily outweighed by all the parts I did enjoy.

  • Mostly enjoyable. There were a few moments that I didn't care for but they are minimal. 3/4 good, 1/4 not good.

  • I enjoyed it more than I didn't. Had a fair amount of unfortunate moments that I didn't like but it was more enjoyable than it wasn't.

  • Average. I enjoyed it at some points and disliked it at others. Likely an anime that I'll forget shortly. Might have had to force myself through it at times. An anime that I don't feel any particular way about, neither bad or good.

  • Below average. There were more times that I disliked the anime than I enjoyed it. It still had it's good moments but it probably felt like a chore at times to get through.

  • Mostly unenjoyable. Had a rough time watching it but there were moments where I enjoyed it somewhat.

  • I didn't like this anime. It had nothing interesting or enjoyable. It's pretty much the same as a 1/10 but I don't actively hate an anime with a 2/10 rating. A chore to sit through.
