(this is long. read if you want, my english may be bad in some parts because i suck at explaining LOL especially such a complex topic)
════════════════════════════════════════════
there exist personifications of quite literally every piece of land (and more) in my "AU" (i guess i should call it that... my personal interpretation of countryhumans).
this goes for villages, cities, autonomous regions, micronations, kingdoms, nations (obviously), political movements & parties, etcetera (likely)
villages tend to look extremely similar to cities, who happen to be very similar to the country they are in, but not quite. they still have some differences
political movements share the same trait of being extremely similar to the country they are from, although only in appearance.. their personality may differ extremely from the country they're from. this also applies to separatist movements
when a political movement takes over a nation, separatist or not, the nation's personality and even appearance will be changed in order to act exactly like or heavily influenced by that party, of course
^^^^^ this means that many nations may just act and dress completely different from one day to another, depending on which political party took over. its a bit difficult for other nations to deal with each other when the personality change is so drastic, and it leads to alliances often breaking, or new alliances forming simply because one starts appreciating or disliking the other nation more depending of whether or not they agree with their policies... or if they're simply just an enjoyable person to be around, lol
════════════════════════════════════════════
i dont believe nations are truly biologically related, and i dont believe they can reproduce, either. they can have the same "ancestor". for example: DRC, Angola, Gabon and Congo-Brazzaville all share similar ancestors, with the main one connecting those four together being the Kingdom of Kongo. they all take some traits from that ancestor, but they are not biologically related because of it. its more as if those four nations were both.. the same person? its difficult to explain. they often hold traits and even memories from their ancestor, though, as they were technically that person. its their choice to acknowledge the few memories and traits they have or not.
this also obviously applies to colonizer & colonized relationships. just because two countries were colonized by the same nation doesn't mean they are related, especially because they had a history and ancestors (most of the time) before the colonizer nation settled in their land
despite this, some consider each other family and other not. Gabon and Congo-Brazzaville consider each other family, twin siblings at that, since they both come from the same ancestor: Kingdom of Loango, and share extremely similar characteristics with her. Congo-Brazzaville also considers DRC to be her sister, and vice versa, due to them both technically sharing an ancestor, Kingdom of Kongo. It also comes from the fact they both technically came to exist at the same time, when France settled on their territories.
Angola doesn't consider Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville and DRC true family, despite sharing some ancestors, although mainly just Kingdom of Kongo. This is mostly because Angola has had way more kingdoms compose her other than just those, and she has a stronger connection to the PALOP members, who she truly considers family
really, it just depends on what the country thinks. its their choice to consider someone family or not, and the reasons as to why as well. it'll usually just come down to them having the same ancestor or simply being colonized by the same country, though

separatist movements tend to look exactly the same as the nation they originate from. the only difference is the flag, and somewhat of the personality. their personality is almost the same, with a certain aspect of it being especially exaggerated to the maximum
its almost like a flanderized version of the original nation or land lol...
