i no longer take pictures with an SLR. i gave Sirius (my good ol' Canon EOS 450D) to my Dad last Christmas. i found everything that i need in a neat, little, awesome photography machine called the Olympus OM-D. it is of micro 4/3s format, and i named mine Darling.
and alec being alec i am going to complain about it after travelling with it for the first time.
- takes 2 secs to startup. quite slow for me. missed a few moments because of this.
- EVF (electronic view finder) is slow to show up too.
- battery life sucks. i need 2 batteries for a day's shoot without even using a flash.
- speaking of flash, i miss the flash sometimes. it does not have a built-in one.
- took me a while to understand the menus. so complicated!
- the buttons and controls are still confusing. i got used to the Canon interface for a long time.
- yes, the "rattlesnake" exists on the 25mm 1.4
- it does not have the "timer + multiple shots" feature. fun little feature that i miss, especially for group shots .
- i can not capture a decent night sky shot with it. they say its the 4/3 platform's limitation.
- i miss looking at an SLR viewfinder while adjusting the CPL. it feels awesome when you see the colors of the landscape change because of the filter.
- lcd touchscreen responds very slowly on cold weather.
- sometimes the camera hangs. must be the cold weather. i dunno. still annoying.
despite all these, Darling produces superb images with superb sharpness. and the colors!!! oh so lovely!!
i love my Darling and im looking forward to producing more great images with it on my future adventures!
