I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

    • I finished reading this book about a day ago, and I'm truly amazed. Smith's style is humorous and fresh, and it has the quality of a classic. It's about a family living in this dismal, desolate, crumbling castle. They're poor, and they're isolated. Then a couple of American boys come along and the two sisters are just wound up in this intricate web of events. I loved this book from beginning to end, and I have a feeling that this book is destined to be one of the great timeless classics in the future, up there with Jane Austen and Harper Lee. And if not, at least I know that this book is definitely going on MY classics shelf.
