- beekeeping (since I read Secret Life of Bees & wrote my first feature story for the Wapakoneta Daily News on a beekeeper)
- sewing (since my mom made me great clothes when I was little & I want to do that for kids that I want to have)
- preserving (since I don't really like canning, but I like to have fresh food all winter) via:
- freezing
- using a cellar
- making jams, which is not, technically, the same as canning to me & I'm the one writing this
- baking fresh breads to include, but not be limited to:
- bagels
- baguettes
- whole-wheat pain long
- ornate French breads that look like wheat, sort of like this
- lobbying against corn used for:
- high fructose corn syrup
- ethanol
- cattle feed
